The Gathering – Muskoka

The Gathering – Muskoka 2021

September 24th to September 26th, 2021

Overlanders will enjoy 2 nights of camping set up on and around Deerhurst Resort’s abandoned runway in the heart of Muskoka’s rugged wilderness. Bring your rig and show off your kit while sharing what you’ve learned throughout your build experiences and travels. Overlanders will enjoy their own campsite area providing ample distance from their neighbours.

Toilets and a hand washing station are provided along with fire bowls and wood scattered throughout the event space for warmth and comfort. Drinking water and showers are not provided so please come prepared and we also encourage you to take advantage of the “Get Fresh room rate available at Deerhurst Resort on the Sunday night. The event is happening rain or shine, obviously, so come prepared to have fun in all weather.

Muskoka Family Fun!

Throughout the weekend overlanders will enjoy various activities for all ages. OverlandNTH is a family friendly event where kids and parents can enjoy riding bikes, playing lawn games, join our scavenger hunt or start their day with morning yoga. We have a few other tricks up our sleeves but you will have to come out and see for yourself.

On Friday night Overlanders can participate in our first annual chilli cook off! Impress the judges and have a chance to win some awesome prizes provided by our partners.

New this year and for an additional fee overlanders can zip through the forest at Treetop Trekking, or discover dirt biking and four wheeling with Yamaha Riding Adventures all located next to the The Gathering site. Click the links for more details and to book.

Live Entertainment!

Once again on Saturday night the group will enjoy the talented Dan Dwoskin of the Honeyrunners. We are excited to announce that this year Dan will be accompanied by the entire band! Come prepared to enjoy some sweet soulful sounds with the perfect backdrop, the rugged Muskoka wilderness!

Overlanders have 3 options this year to choose from when planning their drive on Saturday.

Option 1 – Drive & Hike – Get out and explore the Muskoka local’s best kept secret at Limberlost Forest. This is a short drive from the The Gathering and will take you on pavement and gravel. We highly recommend the Lake Solitaire hike which is 13 kms around the largest lake at Limberlost and is considered easy to moderate. The highlight is the Eco Rock lookout providing expansive views of the fall colours!

Option 2 – Rotary Road Rally / Scavenger Hunt – OverlandNTH is proud to have sponsored the Huntsville Rotary Club to help raise funds for the purchase of a new van to support those less fortunate. We felt it was an obvious fit!

Participants will be given 20 riddles to off the beaten path hidden gems, beautiful and tranquil places in the Huntsville and surrounding community. The task at hand, to solve at least 10 riddles, drive to the revealed location, take in the spectacular view, and submit your group’s selfie. The event does take place over the entire weekend so no need to rush on the Saturday! Although you might want to if you want to win!

Participation is free of charge courtesy of the OverlandNTH crew! To confirm your participation please email and we will get you registered and connected with all the details.

Option 3 – Advance trail ride on what we are calling the “OverlandNTH OG Trail”! Given the size of our group this year, 70 rigs and counting, we have elected not to organize a large convoy of rigs to ensure the groups safety. However, we will provide turn by turn directions to get to the trailhead and we are encourage overlanders to go out in small groups with the goal of staggering departure times to space out the group.

This is a fun intermediate trail run where drivers will see rocky terrain, water, and mud. 4-wheel drives are a must and stock 4×4 vehicles are capable but pin strips are likely and things can go sideways so be prepared and use your judgement. More details will be shared at The Gathering so stay tuned and we encourage the newcomers to The Gathering to speak with the OverlandNTH OG crew to get the lowdown. Don’t worry they are a great bunch.

Super stoked to share that we have teamed up with the crew at Orillia Off-Road Recovery who will be hosting a session on Trail Recovery. The clinic will happen on both Saturday and Sunday so check the Activities Schedule for more details.

Overlanders can also participate in the “Rig Check Up”. The OverlandNTH crew will come by to check out your rig and score it against our official “Badass Kitted Rig” checklist. This is meant to be a fun and educational at the same time, so let’s not get to serious Bob! Prizing will be awarded accordingly so we can’t wait to see the lineup this year!

The event will take place at Deerhurst Resort’s abandoned runway located off of HWY 60, 10 minutes East of the Town of Huntsville.
