MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR EVERYDAY HEROS!
ULTIMATE OVERLAND CHARITY BUILD
OverlandNTH and Wounded Warriors Canada are excited to announce Brian Denault, as the winner of the Ultimate Overland Charity build. The truck couldn’t have gone to a more deserving winner given Brian is a retired Canadian Armed Forces member. Below is Brian’s story and how he learned about him winning the truck and why he purchased a ticket.
“I’m sitting in my car in the parking lot at the Canadian Tire Center on a Sunday afternoon after a Senators game, complaining about how long it’s going to take for the traffic to start moving when I noticed I received a voice message on my phone. It was Steve from Wounded Warriors Canada telling me that I have won the Overland draw. While I was listening to the message my son repeatedly told me to hang up and delete the message because it was a scam, not knowing that I had bought a ticket for the draw. After I told my son that I bought a ticket, I called my wife and daughters and we reviewed the website that it started to sink in, WOW I WON!
My name is Brian Denault, and I live in Petawawa, Ontario. I am the winner of the Ultimate Overland Charity Build contest that directly supports Wounded Warriors Canada. Several times when I was at my Physiotherapist office I would read about the draw from a pamphlet on their counter. After I reviewed the website, I decided that I would probably purchase a ticket to help Wounded Warriors fundraising efforts. But before I could do so, our daughter who was expecting our first grandchild gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. With all the excitement I almost forgot about the ticket, it wasn’t until I got home that I noticed the Ultimate Overland Charity Build page was still open on the computer monitor. I sat down and bought a ticket for the draw the day our grandson was born which was one day before the sale deadline. Supporting an organization like OverlandNTH with fundraising efforts like the Ultimate Overland Charity Build is extremely important to me, they are helping Wounded Warriors of Canada provide direct and continuous support to Veterans and First Responders struggling with mental health issues.
As a 27-year Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, and being released in 2021 because of my injuries sustained during my service. I consider myself one of the lucky ones that have a family doctor, pain management team, mental health help and a family that is there to support me. Wounded Warriors Canada is unique in that they help Veterans and First Responders in the same manner. They recognize that our professions are different but the effects of contributing selfless hours to helping people in need are the same. That’s the main reason why I supported the Ultimate Overland Charity Build fundraiser.”
Congratulations to Brian and thank you to all the partners who supported this important fundraising project.
